Painting FAQ for Brevard County, Florida

Plain-English answers from a contractor working in Brevard County every week.

How much does interior painting cost in Brevard?

Single room refresh: $400-1,200. Whole-home interior: $4,000-12,000 depending on size, ceiling height, and trim complexity. Premium paint and 2-coat coverage are included.

Exterior painting cost?

$3,500-9,000 for typical Brevard single-family home. Includes pressure wash, scrape/sand, prime bare wood, 2-coat application. Salt-air homes need premium acrylic and proper substrate prep.

How often do I need to repaint a Brevard exterior?

5-7 years for standard quality. 8-12 years with premium paint systems (Sherwin Duration, Benjamin Moore Aura). Salt-air coastal homes (within a mile of beach): faster failure, 4-6 years typical.

What paint brand do you use?

Sherwin-Williams Duration and Benjamin Moore Aura for exteriors. Sherwin-Williams Emerald and Benjamin Moore Regal Select for interiors. We can use other premium brands by request.

Do you do cabinet painting?

Yes - one of our most-requested projects. Refinishing 1990s-2000s oak/cherry cabinets with paint transforms a kitchen at a fraction of replacement cost. Sprayed on-site or off-site for factory-quality finish.

Cabinet painting cost?

$3,500-8,500 for typical Brevard kitchen depending on cabinet count and complexity. Includes degrease, sand, bonding primer, 2-coat finish. We spray for factory-quality smooth finish.

What about lead paint in older homes?

Florida homes built before 1978 may contain lead paint. EPA RRP-certified painters are required. We test before sanding any older home and follow proper containment protocols.

How long does interior painting take?

Single room: 1 day. Whole-home interior: 4-7 days depending on size. We do one zone at a time so you can keep using parts of the house.

Exterior timeline?

Single-family home: 3-6 days depending on weather. Pressure wash takes a day, then drying, then prep and paint. Rain delays are common in Brevard summers.

What about humidity affecting paint?

We schedule exterior painting outside the highest-humidity months (June-September). When that's not possible, we monitor dew point and paint during morning windows. Interior is less affected since the home is air conditioned.

Do you move furniture?

Yes for interior projects. We move furniture to the center of rooms, cover with drop cloths, and return to position when complete.

Do you patch drywall before painting?

Yes - hairline cracks, nail holes, and minor damage are included in standard interior painting. Major repair (water damage, large patches) is quoted separately.

Can I supply my own paint?

Yes but we don't recommend it. Our pricing reflects the contractor-tier pricing we get on premium paint. Plus warranty coverage requires us to use materials we control.

What colors are popular in Brevard right now?

Exterior: soft whites, warm grays with coastal blues for trim, sage greens, and traditional Florida tropical pastels in beachside homes. Interior: warm whites, sage and seafoam greens, navy accents, classic neutrals.

Do you do epoxy garage floors as part of painting?

Different scope but yes, we install epoxy floor coatings as a separate service. See /epoxy-flooring for details.

Touchups during warranty?

1-year workmanship warranty on painting. We provide a small can of touch-up paint matching what was applied so you can handle minor scuffs over the years.

What about painting popcorn ceilings?

Painting popcorn ceilings is possible but tricky - the texture absorbs paint unevenly. We recommend scraping/skimming first if the popcorn is dated or damaged. Then prime and paint smoothly.

Can you paint stucco exteriors?

Yes. Brevard's stucco needs elastomeric paint or premium acrylic with proper masonry primer. We pressure wash, repair cracks, then apply 2 coats.

What's the difference between flat, eggshell, satin, and semi-gloss?

Flat: ceilings and low-traffic walls. Eggshell: most living-area walls (slight sheen, wipeable). Satin: kitchens, baths, kids' rooms (more wipeable). Semi-gloss: trim, doors, cabinets (most durable, most visible imperfections).
